Stephanie Rizaj was born in 1989 in Kosovo. She now lives and works between Brussels and Vienna. She graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in 2019.
The basis of Rizaj’s performative sculpture is formed by a set of bodies creating a uniform and fluid movement. This ensemble bears the phrase “the struggle itself is enough to fill a heart”. Returning to her native Kosovo, Rizaj overturned such Sisyphean concerns by refusing to bear the weight of patriarchy and instead following her impulse to ask, “Can women move mountains?”.
